Briskila Emefesi Women Foundation (BEWOF) is a non-governmental, non-profit, non-religious, and non-political organization committed to empowering women, youth, and children. Founded in 2007 and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission and Bauchi State Ministry of Women Affairs, BEWOF works to improve living conditions through advocacy, skills development, health interventions, and social support programs.

Dr Briskila Okafor Emefesi
Founder
Dr. Briskila Okafor Emefesi is the visionary founder of Briskila Emefesi Women Foundation (BEWOF), a passionate advocate for the rights, dignity, and empowerment of women, youth, and vulnerable children. Driven by firsthand observations of the challenges faced by marginalized women—particularly issues of abuse, neglect, and lack of opportunities—Dr. Emefesi established BEWOF to create lasting change. Her commitment is rooted in the belief that when women are empowered, families thrive and communities become stronger.
Since founding the organization, she has led numerous initiatives focused on skills acquisition, reproductive health, gender-based violence prevention, and community development across Bauchi State and beyond. Under her leadership, BEWOF has grown into a trusted organization, partnering with national and international bodies to deliver impactful programs that improve lives and promote sustainable development.

Our Areas of Intervention
Women & Youth Empowerment
We equip women and young people with practical skills, entrepreneurship training, and access to micro-credit opportunities to help them achieve financial independence and improve their livelihoods. By building their capacity, we enable them to contribute meaningfully to their families and communities.
Gender-Based Violence Prevention
We work to prevent and respond to all forms of gender-based violence through awareness campaigns, community education, and support services. Our programs aim to protect survivors, promote justice, and create safer environments where women and girls can live free from abuse.
Reproductive Health & HIV/AIDS Awareness
We promote access to accurate information and essential services related to reproductive, maternal, and child health. Our interventions focus on preventing and managing HIV/AIDS, malaria, and other health conditions while encouraging healthy practices and informed decision-making.
Education & Girl Child Development
We advocate for equal access to education and support the development of girls through mentorship, school outreach programs, and educational assistance. By investing in education, we help break cycles of poverty and empower the next generation of leaders.
Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH)
We promote clean water access, proper sanitation, and hygiene practices in communities. Through awareness campaigns and interventions, we help prevent diseases, improve health outcomes, and enhance the overall quality of life.
Support for Orphans & Vulnerable Children (OVC)
We provide care and support for orphans and vulnerable children by ensuring access to education, healthcare, and basic needs. Our goal is to give every child a safe environment and a fair opportunity to thrive.
